As I sit and write this blog Canada is preparing for the hosting of the Pan Am games, the coming together of athletes from around the world all with one goal in mind - to do the best that they can. Of course they all want to win, but just the fact that they qualified to participate will be enough for many of them.
Interesting isn't it - years of practise, day after day, hour after hour, stretching their bodies further than they have ever been stretched before. Approaching one pain barrier in preparation for the next. Focusing their minds on what lies ahead, ignoring all negative influences that surround them and just focusing on one thing . . .participating in the games – which equals SUCCESS.
What are you focusing on, I mean TRULY focusing on. Are you focusing on a goal/project so much that you are prepared to give up anything to achieve your goal?
Remember the story about Christ who died for what he believed in?
I am not expecting you to die for your belief but I am expecting you to make a strong commitment to what you believe in. A commitment so strong that regardless of those around you, the stumbling blocks that will inevitably be placed before you, the mental pain barriers that will have to be dealt with, you will get up and overcome the challenges and trials that you will inevitably face. Are you prepared and ready to face the challenges?
"Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you."
